Middle East Conflict: Important Travel Update

We would like to provide an update to customers in relation to the ongoing conflict in parts of the Middle East.

This information was last updated on 03/03/2026 12:10

This communication is for general guidance only. Policy cover, terms and conditions will vary between travel insurance policies and insurers. Customers should review the policy wording applicable to their cover to understand the specifics of cover and exclusions.

Recent changes from The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) include advising:

Against all travel to:

❌ Israel, Palestine and Jordan

Against all but essential travel to:

❌ Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Bahrain

Please monitor FCDO – Foreign Travel Advice for the latest travel advice.

If you are already travelling:

  • Register your presence with the UK government here.
  • You must follow the latest guidance from the FCDO and local authorities at all times.
  • If your return journey is disrupted, contact your airline or tour operator, as they are responsible for making alternative travel arrangements.
  • Subject to policy terms, cover for emergency medical expenses not arising directly or indirectly from acts of war, conflict, or related events will continue to apply for individuals who travelled prior to the commencement of the current conflict. Emergency medical expenses arising directly or indirectly from acts of war, conflict, or related events are not typically covered. Claims will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. You should contact your emergency assistance provider, as detailed in your policy documents, for guidance and support.

If you are due to travel soon:

  • If your travel plans are disrupted due to this conflict, please contact your tour operator or travel provider to make alternative arrangements or to request a refund.
  • If the destination or dates of your trip change, contact us to adjust your travel insurance policy.
  • If you were due to travel through an affected region, your airline remains responsible for making arrangements to ensure you reach your final destination.

Important reminders:

  • All travel insurance policies contain exclusions relating to war and/or military conflict, whether declared or not.
  • There is no cover for events that were public knowledge at the time a trip was booked or a travel insurance policy was purchased.

If you have a specific question about your policy cover, you can reach our customer service team at services@oktotravelinsurance.co.uk.

Best wishes,
