Things to see and do:

Columbus House (Casa de Colón) is an attractive museum and its namesake suggests that Christopher Columbus stopped here in 1492, whilst having his ship repaired. It holds records from Columbus’ voyages and houses a model of La Niña, the smallest of Columbus’ fleet that was led by Vicente Añes Pinzón. At a length of 15 metres, roughly about one-fifth of the height of Big Ben, this ship was the best at sailing upwind.

Playa de las Canteras is thought to be one of the best beaches in the world. Covering over 3km with golden sand and a seafront that is free from traffic.

Why not take a sight-seeing tour around Gran Canaria? There are plenty of excursions to choose from including a daytrip departing from the Las Palmas cruise port. This small tour includes the chance to discover the history of the Island’s aboriginal inhabitants at the Fortaleza de Ansite, a photo opportunity of the panoramic view of La Lechucilla, and a Canarian lunch in the foothills of Mirador El Castillo.
