breast cancer travel insurance

Travel insurance for breast cancer and related conditions

More than 55,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and with improving survival rates, many are living well beyond their diagnosis. At OK To Travel, we believe a breast cancer diagnosis shouldn’t prevent you from travelling, which is why we aim to make travel insurance after breast cancer simple and accessible.

We understand that everyone’s situation is different. Whether you are currently undergoing treatment, have recently completed it, or are in remission, insurers will assess your cover based on your individual circumstances. Many standard policies exclude pre-existing conditions, but through OK To Travel you can compare up to 18 policies from a panel of A-rated insurers, giving you access to options designed to consider your medical history.

When applying, you’ll need to declare your breast cancer diagnosis along with any related treatments, such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or ongoing medication. If you are still receiving treatment, insurers may ask about your treatment plan and whether your condition is stable. If treatment has finished, you may be asked about follow-up care and remission status. Providing accurate information ensures your policy is valid and tailored to your needs.

We offer a range of cover levels, including Standard, Premier, Premier Extra and Premier Plus, allowing you to choose protection that suits your destination, trip length, and personal requirements. As long as your condition has been declared and accepted, cover will be included within the limits of your chosen policy.

All policies include access to a 24-hour emergency medical assistance service, providing support wherever you are in the world. By declaring your medical history and comparing your options, you can arrange breast cancer travel insurance that is tailored to your circumstances, helping you travel with confidence and peace of mind.

Best travel insurance for breast cancer patients

If you’re wondering whether you can get travel insurance with breast cancer, the answer is yes. A diagnosis shouldn’t mean missing out on travel, whether you’re planning a well-earned break after treatment or simply looking forward to time away.

At OK To Travel, we aim to make the process as straightforward as possible by helping you compare a range of policies tailored to your individual needs. Our medical screening system asks the relevant questions about your condition, ensuring the options you see are appropriate for your personal circumstances.

You can compare up to 18 policies from a panel of A-rated insurers, giving you access to a wide choice of cover levels and prices. This allows you to select a policy that reflects both your medical history and your travel plans, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

We offer four levels of cover – Standard, Premier, Premier Extra and Premier Plus, so you can choose the level of protection that suits you best. Whether you’re looking for basic cover or more comprehensive protection, comparing these options helps you find the right balance between cover and cost.

You can get a quote online quickly and easily, or speak to our UK-based contact centre team for guidance. We’re always here to help you understand your options and choose the right breast cancer travel insurance with confidence.

FAQs

Some of our most frequently asked questions about travel insurance.

  • I have been breast cancer free for more than 5 years. Do I still need to declare my breast cancer?

Our medical declarations do ask about cancer on a lifelong basis, so you would need to declare your breast cancer even if it was a long time ago. However, because of our medically aware team and our expert screening system, we ask all the right questions to reflect your own circumstances, so your policy will take into account how long you have been cancer free.

  • Can I get cover if I'm still having ongoing treatment for breast cancer?

Although we can’t guarantee we can cover every circumstance, we can always consider cover depending on the type of treatment you’re having and where you’re travelling to. We will always endeavour to find the most suitable policy for your individual needs.

  • Can I get annual travel insurance if I have previously had breast cancer?

In some cases yes, you would need to do a medical screening to confirm this. However please be aware that we can be a lot more flexible with our rates if you are looking a single trip quotation as this is then based where you are travelling actually to.
